Born in the year 1929 in Indore, Lata Mangeshkar was named Hema Mangeshkar by her parents Deenanath Mangeshkar and Shevanti Mangeshkar. Her father Pandit Deenanath was a Konkani and Marathi musician and thus, the adroitness of music is genetic in her.

The career of this queen of melody began at the age of 13. In the year 1942, her father passed away after a heart attack and one of their family friend named Master Vinay took care of them and also played a prominent role in turning Hema Mangeshkar into the voice of the nation.

The first-ever song of Lata Mangeshkar is ­”Naachu Yaa Gade, Khelu Saari Mani Haus Bhaari”, which is a Marathi song and then her second song is “Mata Ek Sapoot Ki Duniya Badal De Tu” which was a Hindi song that added in the Marathi Movie. Later, she came to Mumbai in the year 1945 with her mentor Master Vinayak and took training under Ustad Aman Ali Khan of Bhindibazaar Gharana. She there learned Hindustani Classical music. Meanwhile, she also acted in a few movies but as it is evident she was destined to be the voice of Indian Cinema. Thus, she attained it by mastery in music and focus on singing

For her incredible singing achievements, she has won several awards and recognization including the National award, Padma Bhusan, Dadasaheb Phalke award, Bharat Ratna, and numerous other prestigious recognization.
