One thing is for sure, with the hustle that today’s digital world has gathered, it has nearly become impossible for movie buffs to sit for 2-3 hours every day to delve into an enjoyable experience. Thanks to the good old & also very new kinds – Short Films, it is doable to stop for 10-15 minutes and enjoy a really good story without having to subscribe to a network.
Usually, when we search for short films, all that the web directs us to are movies with a run time of 90 minutes or so. Ngl, many of us can’t make it through that short length too. But then Pip (short film) worked wonders and is still on so many people’s watchlists and favorites. So, why not give such creative ideas more attention?
There are uncountable short films that can entertain you, make you giggle, laugh, or even weep like a baby. So, here we are sharing our favorite short films you must watch, and just to clear, don’t confuse them with the big short.
Interior Cafe Night
It is one of the short films that I revisit a lot. Interior Cafe Night starts with a soft touch of brewing emotion inside a cafe in Kolkata and slowly sinks you in. Not just the story but careful and unique execution also makes it one of the best short Hindi films ever. The main roles are played by Naseeruddin Shah, Shernaz Patel, Shweta Basu Prasad and Naveen Kasturia.
Trust me, if you like movies and didn’t watch Interior Cafe Night, you are missing a lot.
Khujli
Khujli is a short comedy that explores the sweet relationship of a middle-aged couple. The couple’s character is beautifully portrayed by veteran actors Nina Gupta and Jackie Shroff. The film takes a good crack at the subject while keeping you glued to the screen, so watch it today.
White Shirt
Moving on is tough. It is the worst of any relationship, but we all deserve to move forward in our life. “White Shirt” is a perfect example of that.
Kriti
You must’ve watched films where you thought you guessed the epic turn, but at the end, when everything is resolved, you sit and ponder how smart the writer was. Kriti is one such short film giving you endless nail-biting tension in less than 19 minutes.
Ahalya
Ahalya is a 2015 Thriller/Short set around a missing person’s investigation and the house of a famous artist living with his ravishing wife, Ahalya. Things take an unforeseen turn as the investigating officer starts finding clues. Ahalya is a perfect 15-minute suspense short that will keep you hooked. Also, it belongs to the famous era of Radhika Apte, so missing it will be a bad idea.
Devi
Devi is one of the most heart-breaking short Hindi movies on youtube. It is a 13-minute journey on a gut-wrenching issue. It will make you ponder, cry and feel shaken to your core, but it is a must-watch. Roaming around the issue of women’s safety, friendship and traumas, this Large Short Films production will surely stay with you forever.
Ouch
Manoj Baypayee. That’s it. That’s what the film is all about. The man has epic comic timing and acting ability, and Ouch brings it in the best way possible. The movie revolves around the concept of fidelity and how it can land you in the biggest chaos of your life.
Chutney
Tisca Chopra has acted in so many movies, but Chutney will forever shine the brightest. This 16-minute movie packs an in-depth story revolving around a not-so-common house. By the end of it, you will get chills just by thinking about how a woman can swallow dark secrets for years and use them as a poisonous needle to get the household on track.
Juice
Juice is a story of a woman saying “enough” to the patriarchal way of society. This Shefali Shah starrer subtly brings the long-ran authoritative world to the notice where in a house party, women are expected to cook food in a heating kitchen and offer the men and children all the comfort and meals.
Nayantara’s Necklace
Nayantara’s Necklace is a deep narrative following a woman’s desires beyond marriage and kid to manage. The story starts with a friendly conversation between two friends and gradually introduces the depth of the social differences. You can’t miss this short film if you are a fan of complex storytelling.
Guest
Do you love traveling and making new friends? If yes, watch this film at your own risk. Guest is a casual, moving short film starring Avinash Tiwary. The film revolves around a small trip taken by a young man. It is a calm journey that takes a brutal turn.
Chhuri
